Product Introduction

Patent Description

  • Patent Number:
    Japanese Patent No.5121082
  • Invention Name: A stereogram display body and its method of production
  • Registration Date: 2012/11/02
  • Outline: Three – dimensional modeling technology for the “stereogram” picture technique.

Technical Overview

This is a technique which represents a stereogram through 3D modeling. Stereograms that were only possible with planer prints such as paper can now replicate the concavities and convexities on material through this technique. Illustrations, text, etc., it is possible to turn any image as a hidden picture.

A stereogram is a two-dimensional optical illusion art form in which you can-see a totally different picture emerge form ordinary patterns when you look at if with intentionally unfocused eyes.

※This product which is a 3D reproduction stereogram that has been manufactured through this technique has also been registered and trademarked as “Nango-Bori.”

【Conventional Stereogram】

The conventional method was depicted by planer printed matter such as paper and was a two-dimensional technique. As shown below, in order to make two black dots appear as three, hidden paintings will emerge as you shift the focus.

【Stereogram Manufactured Through Patent Technology】

The stereogram is reproduced by 3D shaping with concaves and convexes attached to thick material.

How to look at the Stereogram

【How to view the Stereogram】

There are two ways to look at the stereogram; either “parallel method” or “cross method”
If it is difficult to shift the focus of your eyes there is also a way to intentionally make the two points look like three points.

The Diversion Possibilities of Stereogram Technology

Because stereograms are reproduced by the shadows of convexities and concavities, even if there is an uneven surface it is possible to insert hidden images in various materials.

Using this three-dimensional model stereogram as a mold, it can be converted into different materials by injection molding, electroforming, vacuum casting, etc..
We have also produced a metal mold with a roll shaft shape. It has also been proven to transfer concavities and convexities through embossing.
Through changing of the material and mass production, cost reduction has become possible.

Cutting was done to a high cylindrical surface with a high degree of difficulty. Because the processing by a one ball end was used from start to finish and took a long time to process during the manufacturing finish, the optimization of the processing conditions was found to be indispensable.

Proposal

Although the stereogram appears to be only a simple pattern at a glance, if you offset the focus an image appears at certain points. This surprise and impact will leave a strong impression on people who are looking at it.

Whether it’s an illustration, a picture, letters, numbers, or digital data of JPEGs, it’s possible for the stereogram to give it shape.

Through this technology, the stereogram can reproduce the uneven surfaces of not only metal but various materials. It is possible to expand this technique through various types of fields. Currently, in order to advance product planning and development, we are seeking commercialization with research institutes and people from various fields.

Stereograms that were stuck in the 2D world will expand into a new 3D universe.
